Greece

After spending two weeks in Turkey, I couldn’t think of a better way to end our adventure than with a requisite journey through Greece: getting lost winding through the narrow, cobblestone streets of the Old Town of Rhodes, feeling embarrassingly touristy driving our “island explorers”, seeking out more secluded beaches, marveling at the whitewashed cliffs of Santorini‘s caldera, witnessing some of the most gorgeous sunsets, hunting for treasures at Athens’ infamous flea market, getting fitted for Greek sandals by Stavros Melissinos (of Jackie O & John Lennon fame), and finally, dining al fresco beneath the magnificently lit Acropolis. Opa!!

Ahh… I love your posts on traveling! But I must say this is my favorite so far. I haven’t been to Santorini but it seems amazing. The local crafts seem beautiful! You should visit Peru, here the bracelets you DIY-ed are less than a dollar and pretty. Other than that I think you would enjoy all of Peru. The traditional markets are a wonderful place to shop.

amazing photos from an amazing country!!!
love how you “viewed” Greek quality especially in the days that it’s unreasonably questioned.
some tips for future readers-travellers who will be lucky to come in the future:
    1. Athens as a city has a lot more than sandals to offer_The Acropolis is an unbelievable feeling and Plaka, Anafiotika and the rest of the historical center is VOGUE-like scenery, if we wanna talk in fashion terms.
    2. There is not just Santorini and Mykonos guys! Please!!! the truth is that Greek islands have this beatiful absurdity of being the same and totally different in one package. My personal choices are Ios, Nisyros (the volcano island with the cute little square that was voted the most beautiful in the whole of Europe) and Paxi in the Ionian sea. No wonder why everyone craves for these little gems :D.
    3. Greek hospitality is TRUE STORY! especially at the country ppl are still vastly kindhearted and honour the guest that comes all the way from his country to visit theirs. It passes through generations, it’s in their DNA. The problem will occur only if you offend a Greek or his family. Only then things will get ugly because people are really proud. As a nation Greeks went through many many hardships but they are still gullible but not stupid and most of them, especially this generation (20-40) are very well educated and question a lot of things in the country’s reality nowadays, hence the strikes, so if NM Acropolis is not open dont be so harsh to judge.
    4. OUH! MAINLAND!!!! everybody praises the islands but Greek mainland has many beauties to offer. Nature is still untouched in many places, there are amazing waterfalls, lakes, mountains, rocks (Linkin Park named their album METEORA after the Greek sight in Kalampaka, some huge rocks with a beautiful monastery hanging on the top.) Personal favorites: Trichonida lake which is the biggest and most undiscovered in Greece, Nafplion which is a lovely town with a truly historical castle and mount. Olympos, the mount of the Greek Gods.

All in all Greece worths more that a visit 😀
you should go Back as everyone does
once in Greece, always in Greece!!!!
