5 Ways To Wear A Silk Scarf

Yet another glorious summer has come to an end and as usual, the transition into fall has been rough. But the mourning period never seems to last too long, especially when cooler temperatures allow for accessorizing with something as classic and chic as a silk scarf. I’ve teamed up with Etsy to show a variety of ways to amp up your fall style with colorful silk scarves. I just adore vintage scarves, especially those designed by the iconic mid century, American designer Vera Neumann. They’re so wonderfully graphic and vivid in color! I also love vintage scarves from luxury labels Chanel, Hermes and Gucci – they never go out of style. Ever. A small square scarf, for example, is perfect for tying around the neck, ankle or strap of a handbag. Larger square scarves are ideal for wrapping around the waist or enveloping a hairdo. Fold, wrap and tie. It’s easy as pie. Put those trendy cotton bandanas away and try a silk scarf this season!

A basic fold of a square scarf can go a long way. Simply fold the square in half, into a triangle. Fold it half again, pulling the top of the triangle to the middle of the fold. Fold in half again creating a sash measuring 2-3 inches in width.

Ankle: Wrap a scarf around your ankle twice and into a double knot. It’s a unique look and perfect to wear with cropped denim and a pair of flat slippers or loafers.

Neck: Wrap a small scarf around the neck once into a double knot. Larger square scarves can be wrapped twice around and into a double knot.

Handbag: Loop a scarf through the strap of a handbag and either tie it in a knot or leave one side pulled through into a half bow.

Belt: If a large square scarf isn’t big enough to wrap around your waist, loop it through one or two belt loops, on the side of a pair of jeans or trousers, and then tie it into a double knot.

Hair: Fold a large scarf into a triangle and wrap it around your head and into a side knot. It’s a super chic look as is or under a large brimmed hat! No matter what look you’re into, just have fun experimenting. Etsy such an amazing selection scarves, its impossible not to find something that you’ll love!

What jean brand is featured with the scarf around the ankle? Such a polished version to most cuts.
