A few weeks ago, I shared with you my discovery of the Smithsonian Library Galaxy of Images. I once again, have found more inspiring images – Parisian costume illustrations from 1912 – 1914! C’est trés magnifique!

It’s so easy to get lost in the archives isn’t it? ls there a particular reason you chose costumes? These are phenomenal.
I must have missed your previous post about the Smithsonian! Very cool! Thanks so much!
These are so cool!!
@Rachel having worked as a stylist and costume designer for almost 10 years, I am always looking to vintage images for inspiration.

The illustration technique is pretty inspiring too, such a graceful hand! I’m loving the harlequin skirt and striped pants.
wow, these are great. they’d be beautiful framed on a wall
These are lovely! Would be nice to have a collection of them framed on the wall.
These look like Jacques Barbier (several appear to be signed Barbier). Love them! xx
*brain fart* George Barbier
Oh WOW! Thank you so much for the link to the Smithsonian Library.
I’m kicking myself – I purchased a few of these for a dime each when I stumbled across a garage sale in San Francisco. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE WHOLE LOT. I am literally now taking off the scotch tape and will immediately dignify then with a proper frame. Who would have thunk….
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are great illustrations, thank for sharing!!
Thanks!!! I really got some ideas from your blog!!!
I think educational activity is based on a teacher him/herself as well as the language or probably even more. How much a student can learn during the limit period of time does depends on the teacher and how (s)he can handle him/herself in various situations.
