It’s all about redefining materials for artist Matthew Cox, as he layers embroidery on top of medical x-rays. One material is tactile and labor intensive and the other is technical and quickly a finished product . . . the result is brilliant in the most strange yet intriguing way.

So unexpectedly beautiful.
I would gladly frame one of these unique works of art and hang it in my living room!

Wow, this is incredibly strange yet very compelling. I love the unique twist of taking something that is otherwise unpleasant and turning it in to a beautiful work of art. Absolutely amazing.

so bizarre and so amazing. I want to know what the artist was thinking when he came up with this concept. so creative and random and unexpected.
Amazing! I have a few X-rays. I want to try this out.
I love the contrast in texture. Super interesting work. Would love to see in real life so i could get really really close. And see the stitches.
Very interesting and imaginative, and nicely stitched, but I wouldn’t want to look at those daily.
It is unbelivable beauty combine embroidery with medical x-rays pictures, perfect combination!!!

Ugh! No, no, no.. I guess I’m too old-fashioned, but I do not like this work at all.
I’ve come up with a Title or Theme for these embroideries…..”More than Skin Deep”
Frankly, I do not like this in embroidery. Someone has time on their hands and stitches from the dark side it would seem.
Kathy,
I have seen so many of these x-rays – usually of my own broken bones – so maybe I am not objective. I think threy are grotesque. The stitching is skillful!

Hallo Kathy, I find this grotesque und (sorry, I can not find the word in English)” geschmacklos”. Rita
Utterly Brilliant and Eerily Beautiful
