Embroidered X-Rays

It’s all about redefining materials for artist Matthew Cox, as he layers embroidery on top of medical x-rays. One material is tactile and labor intensive and the other is technical and quickly a finished product . . . the result is brilliant in the most strange yet intriguing way.

  37. Frankly, I do not like this in embroidery. Someone has time on their hands and stitches from the dark side it would seem.

    Kathy,

I have seen so many of these x-rays – usually of my own broken bones – so maybe I am not objective. I think threy are grotesque. The stitching is skillful!
