I absolutely love the richness and tradition behind embroidered Suzani textiles. The colorful, needlepointed fabric dates as far back as the late 18th century and was often exchanged like currency or used as dowry payments in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Well, that’s just preposterous . . . and the bee’s knees. This penthouse loft in Chelsea features one of the most spectacular rooftop terraces I’ve ever seen. Beni Ourain Rugs

I’m currently on a serious mission to find a large, traditional Beni Ourain rug for our living room. These incredibly plush rugs, made by the Beni Ourain tribe and other neighboring tribes in the mountains of Morocco, typically feature a black diamond pattern and are woven into a cream foreground. An authentic piece can be quite costly but alas, my search carries on and my collection of inspiration photos continues to grow . . .
