I spent the better part of yesterday drooling over Haleigh’s, of Making Magique, photographs from her recent family trip to Peru. Her journey to Cuzco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Lima has convinced my boyfriend and I to finally make the trip to this colorful and culture-rich country. How can you not want to share her experience?
(more stunning images and Haleigh’s story about her adventure at Making Magique)

I have been reading you for a while but I think I never made a comment before… I am a little shy. This time i can’t resist commenting to tell you that you will never regret travelling to Peru, I can garantee you will have a great experience. The (my) country is full of life, colors and happiness, the living cultures, the history and the nature makes coming to Peru a memorable experience, trust me!
hope you make it to Peru someday and if you do please contact me, so I can show you somethings from an insider point of view. 🙂
love from Lima
@Melissa Sanchez Manrique Hola! I am so happy you did comment! I will be reaching out to you next year, I would really like the insiders point of view. I do have a question for you. What do you call the hat the women with the lamas in the first image are wearing? I love that incredible rosette detail on the hat. I really want one! And thank you again for commenting.
Today you’ve got some curvy models!
go, go GO! I went a few years ago, did the Inca trail and it was INCREDIBLE!!!

Wow. Peru is an incredible country. I was lucky enough to spend 8 months there last year doing disaster relief and community development work. These photos are gorgeous, the only thing that makes me think “meh” is that (I believe) the photographer would have paid the women in the first few photos. Obviously I don’t know that for sure, but they look like the typical tourist photo from Cusco, in which the Andean women dress in traditional dress and pose with sheep/llama, etc for money. Does this make it less genuine? I’m not sure, only a thought because I’ve struggled with this as a photographer as well!
Thanks so much Lauren for sharing my travels with your readers too! I’m a long time fan HonestlyWTF and was so happy to see some Making Magique pop up here. Peru was really a lovely lovely trip. Please feel free to email me (haleigh[at]makingmagique.com) if you want any specific recommendations and ideas! Would love to pass on my learnings. BISOUS de Paris! – Haleigh

I’m really happy that you enjoyed the time there, i see that you’re asking for the name of the hat, it called “bombin peruano” o “borsalino peruano”,

Love u all!
I love all the bright colors. I just posted about some amazing steals and deals and there is a piece on there that is so similar to the style ponchos they are wearing above. I love that fashion is international and inspiration can come from literally anywhere.
Do it! I got to visit back in the 90’s while working for a travel agency. What a fabulous experience. So much color and beauty. You will not regret it.
A “must see one day” for me!
The pictures are swooning! I love the majestic play of life infusing colors in their creations! Always mesmerizing!
GORGEOUS photographs. I took similar ones when I went to Peru years back.
I soooo love all of your pictures! How inspiring! Especially all the colors 🙂 Great job!
Make sure to visit MATE, Larco Museum, Seńor Limon, Papacho’s, Don Mamiño and Puente de los Suspiros at night when you are in Lima. These are some of my favorite places back home.
