If you live or have traveled in Latin America, you've probably heard the name Silvia Tcherassi. Not only does the Colombian designer have 15 stores throughout South America, and Spain, she and her family own two hotels in the historic district of Cartagena, Colombia - both of which she designed. With over 25 years in the industry, many claim it was Silvia that pioneered the Latin flair that has become so popular. Her clothes feel distinctive, with their boldly clashing patterns, voluminous shapes, dramatic ruffles and sophisticated construction. All the prints are designed by hand, the fabrics are produced in Lake Como, Italy and the collections are manufactured in Barranquilla, Colombia. And in recent years, she's collaborated with Colombia's indigenous Mocaná tribe to handcraft beautiful artisanal bags using ancestral techniques. She's the ultimate example of a woman who does it all.

I always stop and stare at her store window in Bogota. Her designs are so impeccable… the fabrics !
I’m not really moved by the clothes, but I do hope this rich woman is giving some money to animals, human and non-human in need in Latin America.
