Cienne Fall 2016

My dear friend Michelle Ouellet recently introduced me to fresh, new label after traveling to Bolivia to be a part of Cienne‘s fall campaign. Inspired by the daring and adventurous French Ye-Ye girls of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, the mood is both dark and exotic, yet playful. The unparalleled quality and sumptuous texture of the knit heavy collection can be attributed to designer Nicole Heim’s quest to source textiles from global artisans from around the world. Bolivia’s expertise in both alpaca fibers and intricate hand-knitting drew her to an artisan group of over 200 women who hand-knit the materials, which were then locally constructed in New York City. Cienne’s direct-to-consumer model is able to keep costs down without sacrificing the highest of standards when it comes to craftsmanship and style. I’m a fan!
