Textbook

If your a fashion enthusiast and a literature or history buff (gasp!), I hope you’re already familiar with Textbook, where our friend and fellow blogger John Januzzi imagines how fictional heroines, cultural icons, and historical figures might be styled for this day and age. Characters like Jay Gatsby, Veruca Salt, Joan of Arc, and Tinkerbell are playfully dissected and outfitted with individualized runway pieces. The collages are meticulously assembled and the captions are witty. All in all, it’s honestly genius. He even takes requests! So dear John, what would Jo March wear?

    Hello,

I’m Louise Gabet and I’m working with Melinda Triana (you’ll fine her bio bellow), for of an upcoming 52 min documentary film about the Y Generation, produced by the French company TaboTabo Films, and to be aired simultaneously in France, Germany, Swiss and Belgium next summer on the prestigious european Arts & Culture network Arte.

The idea of this film is to make a cultural portrait of the Y generation, question its behaviours (faiths), its cultural models, its way to consume the culture and try to understand how this youth manage to rebel (or not) in front of the adults world. We also try to determinate how this generation works and groups together on the social networks, how they create their own cultural products on internet (films, clips, parodies, etc.) and try to understand why they are so fascinated by celebrity and popularity.
For that, we started to meet and film teenagers and young adults in different countries.

We would be very happy if you agreed to meet us for answering few questions about your generation.

And if you know people under 27years old, who start a business, create an association, or in an artistic group, do not hesitate to put us in touch with them.

We should come in United States in March and April, do you think you will be there ? If not, we could come earlier to interview you if you were ok to participate to our project.

Likewise, could you tell us if you know events at this time that would be interesting for our film. Melinda said indeed to me to ask you if you know some gig or graffiti events at this period.

Should you want more details, please feel free to contact me by email at : lou.gabet@gmail.com or on my cell : 00 33 6 65 54 47 98.

(Bio: Melinda Triana, director, has directed different documentaries about teenagers, their vision of love, their fascination for fashion, their vision of the work world.)

    Thanks a lot

    Best regards.

    Louise Gabet.
