Anokhi

I am a huge fan of Indian blockprint textiles and have been a long time devotee of Kerry Cassil and her signature mixing of patterns.  I am dying for the day I get to go to India and visit Anokhi, pioneers of hand block printing for the export market.  Anokhi is known for its success in preserving and revitalizing traditional Indian textile skills, and for its involvement with educational and social projects in Rajasthan, India, where the company is based and its products produced.  Each pattern starts with carving one to thirty print blocks out of teak and then applying the pattern with vegetable dye on the highest quality, lightweight cotton.  Stunning, no?  Lucky you, they have a small online boutique based here in the States to hold you over until your next visit to India.

  4. I actually went to the Anokhi Museum in jaipur ( pictured here ) and met the same artist seen in your image block printing on fabric. Such a beautiful place and so many gorgeous prints. I loved everything there.
