Pixie Land

I can only imagine how liberating it must feel to take the leap towards the ever so sophisticated pixie cut, made popular by 60s icons Twiggy, Jean, and Mia. Unfussy and easy to manage, the face-transforming do certainly isn’t for everyone. But honestly, what’s the worse that can happen? When all is said and done, hair does grow out. So would you ever be brave enough to go for the full chop?

What an amazing collection of inspo photos! I’ve never gone pixie but I have the feeling I’m working my way up to it… My last chop was inspired by this:

And not only did I go all the way with the bangs but I also lost a good 6 inches off my already fairly short hair! (you can see some shocked photos of me on my blog’s facebook if you’re curious) It feels super liberating and exciting, and I think that while I’m feeling adventurous I’ll probably keep going shorter before I eventually grow it out again. Just the thought of going pixie gives me vertigo! Definitely bookmarking these photos for future inspiration!

  8. Love your article. Oh I have done that too. I am a trendsurvivor ! The drawback is that it grows so quickly that you need a haircut every month to maintain a super cool pixie hairstyle.

See you in my blog, maybe.

  15. I love the pixie cut though the shortest I’ve ever gone is to a short angled bob that was shorter in the back and face framing in the front. It was SO liberating and my hair felt so much healthier, getting a fresh start, but I think the pixie would be too extreme for me!

I used to have a pixie and it really suited me. I miss it so much! Unfortunately in my attempt to become more commercial (i work as a model) I decided to grow it out and I’ve reached my second ‘wall’ and am therefore missing it more than ever!

Here is my 2 cents on how to choose a hairstyle and how to deal with those growing pains (as tempting as it is to just go back to short!):

    http://patterns4life.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/your-hair-magazine.html

If anyone can help me decide whether to keep my fringe (bangs) or grow it out, I would really appreciate that too!

I have curly hair and had wanted to cut it all off for ages. Did it about two years ago (went from bra strap length when flat ironed, a little shorter when curly to a pixie) and it felt amazing. I never thought I had the face for it but when going short (even pixie short) there are certain cuts and styling tips that can change it enough to fit your face, I was lucky enough to find a great stylist. I loved my cut so SO much (I even dyed it pink which I also wanted to do for a long time) but I also started missing my curls terribly so I started growing it out a year ago. I’m a dancer and definitely got funny looks when I cut it, I’m also from Mexico (where I still live) and people got a bit judgmental (“woman shouldn’t have short hair!!”) but most people liked it. I totally see my self doing it again, definitely worth trying πŸ™‚

I completely adore this look- but not on me. I think you have to have naturally straight hair- which I don’t- and a semi strong jawline. The look needs to be edgy so that you can add in your own style. Which lots of times turns out to be ultra girly and sexy. Props to those who can pull it off- I’m jealous.

I did it last spring. My hair had become very damaged and I decided that the only way to get it back in shape would be to chop it off and start from scratch. I had had short hair once before, but not nearly as short as a pixie. It felt super liberating to cut it all off, and it was really fun to look so very different all of a sudden, but I decided to grow it out again after a couple of cuts because it wasn’t versitile and needed very regular upkeep, which sort of cramped my style. It’s almost to a chin-length bob now. Looking at this photos almost makes me want to cut it again, but the growing out process has been so frustrating that I think I’ll go long again for a few years before I cut it short again. It would be a great option for just after having a baby, I think, because it is so fast and easy.

  35. I’m always torn with growing my hair out and cutting it short. Living in a tropical country, a pixie cut is just perfect for the warm sunny days! Nothing feels better than a short fuss-free cut on a hot day. Your post isn’t helping make my hair dilemma any easier tho. Those photos make it look even more inviting!

i rocked the F out of a pixie cut in my younger years.. i was thin enough in the face to pull it off, just that once, though. years later, i unearthed a few great polaroids of my dainty do and i tried to return to my former glory.. not so much luck. i’ll never forget those magical years of my living my “prime” (haha, shucks, i could give myself a tiny break). Anyone who is considering the leap… start short then get shorter. it’s easier to handle the change that way, i found.

I had long long hair till my butt, and one day didn’t say to anybody anything and cut it to a pixie cut. I was and still am very happy about it. Next thing I did- I am blond from last month. So I definitely love to do smth with hair, because I know it will grow up. No fear about changes and I guess it is the easiest change that I can make.

I so would like to do a pixie cut! However as my hair is curly and does not behave as I want to most of the time I’m not sure that’s a good idea. All people I’ve seen with this cut always have straight hair and I don’t know if its worth to flatten it every day πŸ™ You don’t have any suggestions or pictures of people with curly hair that have a pixie cut?

Love this pictures and love short hair. Everyone should try it st least once in their lifetime! I cut my hair short several times, grown it out, cut it of again. Now it has been short for almost a year, and this time I’m not going back. At the moment I sport a very short pixie, with clipped neck and sides, a real summer haircut!
