Chignon Du Cou

I love myself a chignon – if done right, it can look incredibly chic and effortless. It’s no wonder the word actually comes from the French phrase β€œchignon du cou,” which meansΒ napeΒ of the neck. There are a handful of great tutorials out there that are incredibly easy to follow: from the tuck and rollΒ chignon to the asymmetricalΒ chignon to the braided chignon.Β And unless you’re walking down the aisle, a little loose and a bit messy is the way to go.

  12. This images are all beautiful. The top knot has been getting a lot of attention lately, but I think the low chignon is just as cool as long as it is done right. When doing it casually I definitely agree that doing it messy with little whispers of hair can be so beautiful.
Can’t wait for my hair to grow a bit longer so I can finally rock a low chignon again.

I’m practically always in a chignon – have naturally oily hair and I’m trying to grow it out. It’s an effortless style that does’nt require much upkeep = win win.

In french we call them “Chignon nuque” (neck) or “chignon danseuse” (ballerina).
“chignon de cou” is better than “du cou”.
