Vanessa Barragao

Remember my latch hook weaving tutorial? Well, take that and times it by a thousand and you'll find yourself oohing and aahing over the work of Portuguese textile artist Vanessa Barragao. Inspired by the ocean and the Earth's ecosystems and coral reefs, Vanessa creates multi-faceted landscapes in the form of woolen rugs, tapestries and wall hangings. I love how she incorporates crochet and felting into her latch hooked weavings. The detail is painstakingly stunning and the large scale of her work is jaw dropping. Honestly, WOW.
