When I lived in Spain, I used to love doing laundry for the sole reason of getting to hang my clothes out to dry. Although it took awhile to get used to how differently clothes felt after being air dried, there was something undeniably romantic about it. This project named Intimacy under the Wires first started in Tel Aviv’s Jaffa neighborhood and has since been an ongoing project bringing Israeli photographer Sivan Askayo to Madrid, Barcelona, London, Florence, Venice, and Buenos Aires. I absolutely adore how these images capture the fluidity and movement of the clothes in the wind.

Cute pics, love them!
@Lauren, when and where did you live in Spain? I am moving to Madrid next semester for 6 months and would love to hear some of your suggestions for the best vintage shopping/restaurants or anything. thank youuuuu!
@Liv I lived in Sevilla and in Madrid on and off for 3 years! Email me, and I will send you my recommendations! Spain is the best place on Earth, you’re going to love it! And @NomadicD, I would like to hear your other pet peeves of living in Spain! I would trade places with you in a heartbeat! Enserio!! Besos-
I love these – there is something so artistic and magical about the view up. It changes something so mundane as images of laundry (which we have all seen) and makes them artistic and abstract. Nice to have a different view!
Thanks for the inspiration!
While the photos are beautiful, I have to say that’s definitely on my top10 pet peeves list about living in Spain. Oh, to have a dryer again! It might be romantic, but the reality of hanging the laundry year in and year out is less glamorous, I swear it.
love these so much!

The idea is so cute but I’m pretty sure multiple pairs of clothes would drop to the ground while I was trying to hang them. Haha, I can see it now. So much for that shirt.
These photos take me back to my childhood, when I’d help my grandma hang up all our clothes. Just beautiful.
These pics are so inspiring! I can’t wait for my European vacation next summer!
Love this post! I used to live in Tel Aviv and the hanging clothes were a staple in the scenery of the streets of Israel.
love, love, love the clothesline pictures!
Bueno, en España y sobretodo en pueblos más pequeños sí que suelen tender la ropa fuera , para secarla al aire libre….las secadoras se utilizan más cuando llueve……
Well in Spain, especially in small towns where there is no so much pollution people use to hang out clothes The dryers are used when it rains
Besos desde Barcelona/ Kiss from Barcelona
These are very beautiful photographs!
Great post! I think I may need to install a clothesline somewhere…
gorgeous and creative pics! enjoying your blog!
There really is something romantic about hanging clothes on a line to dry. I just moved to England and am weirdly excited that I have the ability to use a whirly gig and line dry my clothes whenever the weather is good.
Lovely post! I have also lived in Madrid and this really brings me back!
Thanks for the memory 🙂
This is totally awesome. xoxo
I love these photos@
I love the colours and textures.
That’s very cool! I used to hang out my clothes in Barcelona and we do it at the beach, there is something undeniably fresh about that air dryed crispness
