Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova places old books and other documents together and paints over them to create the most beautiful installations. Below are some pieces from her exhibition Un, due, tre, fuoco in Rome earlier this year.

I LOVE THIS IDEA:)
These are really lovely.
They are such unique pieces of art. I would love something like this over a fireplace. It would make such an impact.

DIY ON MY BLOG
never seen anything like this before, love it.
Ha, I like it.
i love this idea. i love books, so many people use readers now but you can’t beat having an actual book. making them into art is such a great idea.
Two of favourite things…books and painting. I’m in love!!
This is so unique and creative! The concept of using books as the canvas is so versatile and would be a really cool way to enhance any kind of art/decor . . . the DIY gears in my head are turning!

Similar ones on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Cocodeparis?ref=seller_info .. Not as big though, and buyable.
Amazing and unique talent! Who would have thought that once cherished books would have start to become little more than canvases to some? Possibly due to the “”E-reader” generation”?
A great way to rescue all those outdated and unwanted books in the world!
Wow that is so creative! It takes a lot to grab my attention when it comes to art but when it’s really creative like this, I love it!
Stunning! What’s the medium? Using ink on books would be very cool!
