When I was ten years old, my mom made me a chocolate beet cake for my birthday. I was mortified that my friends would find pieces of beets in every bite. Of course this did not happen and everyone loved the cake.

Good Lord. I hate to cook and bake, and better yet, have no intention of ever baking a beet cake. But god damn if I didn’t watch that whole video with the warm fuzzies. I did cringe a little when she grabbed the handful of flour though.
This video is so great love the lighting of it. I wonder how beet cake would taste… I love beets but I’ve never imagined them in a sweet way… with chocolate none the less!

This is so right to follow your From Russia with Love post. LOL Never tried beet cake but love beets otherwise (Russian beet salad, borsch, pickled beets, Georgian beet spread (pkhali) etc). Every time I mention beets here in the U.S. people make faces. Beets are so underestimated in the U.S. Great video! Thanks for posting it!

Have any of you actually baked before???? By the time that pretentious ‘recipe’ had finished i’d thrown every implement from my kitchen at the screen. its arduous artful + craftfulness, the baking performance by ‘oh how i wish i was jean seberg but instead i’ll breton top myself and live in a commune en brooklyn where it’s keepin it real with my spelt crackers, vintage wooden crates and perfect turn-ups….aghghghghghhhhhhhh! PEOPLE: LIFE’s TOO SHORT. there’s more emperor than cake. thank you.
