To this day, my number one vacation memory is from when I was 10 years old, and we stayed at the Space Age Motel in Anaheim, CA, which sadly, has since been torn down. It wasn’t the motel itself that I remember, but the silver domed spaceship looking cabana by the pool. So. Frigging. Cool. I even found an old photo of it on the interwebs years ago and have had it framed and hanging in my house ever since. LOVE the photos you posted!

The thing is there were cool. The big chains came along and killed them and now most of them are sleazy, but back when I was a kid, it was a blast to stay in one of these places. So nice that you have the memorabilia to show their heyday to those who may not know. Thanks for sharing!

I am quite a bit older than most of you, probably, I do remember the glamourous look of the old motels, I was probably 7 years old and traveling and they definitely had a certain allure to them, especially w/ the pools!

I love these pictures! I still buy vintage postcards when I travel around and send them back home, they are so much more fun! :)

Too cool! I have vintag-y pieces everywhere. I thought they were so tacky when I was a kid, but I’m so glad I decided to keep them

I just picked up a whole bunch of vintage hotel/motel brochures and postcards at an estate sale and will be blogging about them soon. These are a great collection, but i have to wonder, what’s up with the buffalo?!
