Septum rings have come a long way since their punk-inspired days in the 80s and 90s. Today’s versions are far more delicate and feminine. And although some designs more intricate, some inspired by their tribal origins, they can be rather subtle in size. And if you’re still on the fence, these non-pierced cuffs are committal free. Every October, the skies are filled with 750 hot air balloons for Albuquerque’s International Hot Air Ballon Fiesta. The 9 day event is the largest ballon festival in the world. Just before sunrise, 750 balloons take flight in only two hours. It’s fascinating to think that just over 230 years ago man took his first flight in a hot air ballon. The New Yorker cartoonist Bob Eckstein recently shared a collection of drawings and stories inspired by New York City’s most beloved bookstores. I have the most fond memories of some of these charming shops while living in Manhattan so it’s touching to read these short anecdotes. And in an age where some our favorite independent bookstores are devastatingly nearing extinction, it’s a great reminder to continue to support our local bookstores!
