Proust Geometrica

Posted by on

After it was first created in 1978 for the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the Proust armchair became a historic and iconic symbol of twentieth century furniture design. Just a couple of years ago, designer Alessandro Mendini helped design Proust Geometrica for Cappellini – an explosive and colorful version of the original. I think you either love it or hate it . . . what do you think?

I actually really like these! I’m not sure exactly what I would do with them, but they are certainly a beautiful conversation piece. Happy Monday!

I am not fond of it. Never felt wow’ed or anything by it. There’s too much going on in my opinion

Funky fresh! Been using these chairs in a bunch of my interiors…I’ve yet to see them finished in such bold, bright patterns…how fun for summer!

I love looking at them as art, but I don’t know if I could have one in the house!

love! it would definitely be a great accent to a room dominated with one or two neutral colors! :)

i LOVE it. but i hate the price tag. 13 grand for a freakin chair?? obviously not meant for people like me lol but i love the colors.

Love it and have added it to my “virtual” home. That’s about as close as I’ll ever get to having one!

I really love it! He did another version of this I recently saw in a museum. That version is awesome as well it has colourful dots all over it. The only downside really is the price. Great post!

Mendini designed the museum I worked at! It’s called the Groninger Museum, google it if you like the chair. ;)
