Honestly WTF

V Rae

Posted by on

Last week while in Alaska, I fell in love with local artist V Rae‘s work. Her series of Alaskan wildlife, Fur Fin & Feathers, is done with vibrant watercolors on paper textured canvas or Yupo. The result is a color that is richer and more translucent than conventional watercolor applications. Her technique is unique to V Rae’s self proclaimed thermal imaging mind. She seriously has me wishing I could borrow her eyes just for a day . . .

Haha you should have let us know you were in Alaska! I could have showed you around! Did you go to the Saturday Market? There’s a lot of other fun local artists and vendors there. But V Rae is fantastic. :)

I am so happy you posted V Rae’s work! As a born and raised Anchorage girl, my heart leaps when I see this extraordinary art. Reminds me so much of home. The passionate detail, personality and vibrancy in each of the pictures are just stunning. Oh, now I’m homesick. *Sigh* :)

I bought the one of her humpback whale the first time I was in Anchorage and wanted the fox so badly. I’m absolutely in love with her work!!! Please tell me you also went into Octopus Ink, just around the corner and just as spectacular!

Seriously, I was hardly able to see your site because an ad for hair products kept hijacking your site when I first arrived on the DIY page and taking me to over THEIR site…not just an ad, these guys actually took YOUR page down and moved me to theirs with no time out and no ability to “go back”. Then kept popping up surveys about the relevancy of their ad and demographics. Trying to avoid them was impossible and they kept trying to engage me after I’d said no repeatedly in different ways. I worked on it for five minutes and was never able to “stick” to your site long enough to read it. You need to ban the folks who placed the John Freda ad. They don’t have YOUR best interests in mind…only theirs to the point where they are driving your viewership away. Of course, they may also be in charge of monitoring the comments in which case you will never see this note. I love your site, but I’m even scared to sign up for following because they may get involved.
