África Magnífica

I love and appreciate Nick Brandt’s photography even more after learning more about his foundation Big Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving Africa’s wildlife and ecosystems. Since its inception in September 2010, Big Life has hired over 120 rangers, built 14 outposts, and purchased 13 night-vision equipped vehicles in an urgent response to the recent dramatic escalation in poaching across much of Africa. All the proceeds from the sale of these stunning prints are being donated to the foundation.

These photos are beautiful. We are in Africa.now and have seen all these animals, but our pictures do not compare. Unfortunately, poaching s a real problem here. Park rangers carry AK 47 ‘s to try to stop the poachers.

Been to Africa a few times, twice this year and it is my favorite place to go. Seeing the animals in the wild has been my dream since childhood. People that are living in poverty need to be educated to the fact that they have a natural resource that will bring them more of an income than killing off the animals that need to be preserved for eternity.

If a person has had the gift of watching animals interact as a family unit they love their babies like we do and each other. It is pure magic, go if you can!

These are breathtakingly beautiful. They are so enegetic, so dynamic and touching at once. I want to say they seem so natural, but I would be stating the obvious. They are raw.

These photos really give an incredible feeling of awe. The backstory brings so much meaning to the photographs as well.

That one picture of the elephant with all the dust around him has been one of my favorite images for a few years now. They really are gorgeous.

Ohh!! I saw these in Fotografiska in Stockholm and they were surreal, really magical! Especially because they are in black and white!
