Tsingy de Bemaraha

How breathtaking are these limestone formations in Tsingy de Bemaraha, a natural reserve on the western coast of Madagascar? The area was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990 due to the unique geography, preserved mangrove forests, and wild bird and lemur populations. Honestly, WTF. I desperately need to see this in person.

There is a magnificent documentary by BBC called Madagascar, where we can see those beautiful limestone formations inhabited by lemures! I really recommend it!

Just returned from four months in Mada! Tsingy was amazing – really an incredible experience. A voyage to Madagascar isn’t for the faint at heart but is a truly lifechanging experience. More important than the incredible landscapes or the animals are the generous and truly beautiful-spirited people.

It is beautiful. Unfortunately it’s also incredibly dangerous, due to the fact that those spires are razor-sharp. Seriously, most of the park is completely unexplored.
