Mother Of Pearl Spring 2014

Each season designer Amy Powney and creative director Maia Norman collaborate with a different artist to translate their work into Mother Of Pearl‘s designs. It’s a brilliant idea and makes perfect sense, considering Maia was once married to artist Damien Hirst. For spring, together with British artist Mat Collishaw, the collection was filled with boldly printed palm fronds, a cornucopia of tropical fruits and Mother Of Pearl’s signature stripes . . . clashing together in perfect harmony.

So much whimsical fun! Honestly, I was kind of surprised that this graphic fruity fun comes from Mat Collishaw. I was only familiar with his sculptural work before but I always think of him as kind of dark. (I saw one of his pieces in new york a few years ago and it blew my mind: http://bit.ly/19k1O9W) Just goes to you show you you can never pigeonhole somebody like that. Love the concept of fashion/art collaboration as well. Yet another great find from you!
