Maia Bergman Spring 2013

It’s no surprise that Argentinian designer Maia Bergman‘s final collection, before graduating from Central St. Martin’s School of Design, put her in the running for the 2013 H&M Design Award. Maia brilliantly embellishes sheer and simple silhouettes with tiny and colorful plastic beads, while drawing inspiration from the repetitive patterns of bacteria growth and the downtown punk and pop sensibility of designer Stephen Sprouse. We’re honestly blown away by the textures and details and are just dying to see more from this emerging designer!

Holy cow. That must be so pain-staking but the results are SO worth it! I really like how it isn’t traditional beading. Looks more like a painting than beading!

Is this a technique that we can do ouselves to add dimension to our sheer clothing? If so, would glueing the beads work?
I’m open to any suggestions as I’m a DIY kinda-a gal.

Those details are just so beautiful, but they also remind me of those orbits drinks when I was a kid–filled with those coloured gelatin bubbles.

KILLER beadwork. Looks like the piece was almost dipped in glue, then onto a table of beads. LOVELOVELOVE.
