Louis Vuitton Fall 2012

Can you imagine a steam engine train pulling onto a runway, inside Paris’ Cour Carrée, with models deboarding in 19th century travel heritage inspired looks? And each with their own porter carrying luggage? Well, it happened – and in the most dramatic fashion. With giant jeweled brooches as buttons for coats, oversized hats by Stephen Jones, and layered kaleidoscopic-like prints, Marc Jacobs’s show stopping collection for Louis Vuitton was ornate and richly detailed. Just when you thought last season‘s carousel-themed presentation couldn’t be topped . . .

The collection is beautiful and elegant—and the thought of travel like that even more so. Wonder what the Orient Express is like now?
