Inspired by the opulent details and voluminous silhouettes of 15th and 16th century nightgowns, German designer Anna Heinrichs has been designing sleeping gowns in vibrant patterned silks and crisp Egyptian cottons for her label Horror Vacui since 2012. And yes, read it right - "sleeping gowns". As in, pajamas but not just your average pjs. Anna has brilliantly turned the concept of sleepwear on its head, leaving the styling of her modern and maximalist iterations up to the wearer's interpretation. Why not pair a billowy, scalloped night shirt over a pair of jeans? Or layer a turtleneck under a hand smocked gown? Her collections, which have since expanded into blouses and maxi dresses, are just so wonderfully playful and exquisite, wearing one of her pieces would be a total dream.
Horror Vacui is available at Horror Vacui and Matches Fashion

These are so gorgeous! Like Grayson Perry meets Liberty of London by way of 1970s Laura Ashley. I would wear them as ‘outside’ dresses.
Wayyy to beautiful for just sleeping. Astral travel uniforms maybe, but not just sleep.
All these dresses are gorgeous! I love ’em
