Earlier this spring I went on a roadtrip along Highway 1, halfway to San Francisco from LA, to Cambria. I loved driving through vineyards, rolling green hills covered in wildflowers, farms, untouched beaches filled with elephant seals, and of course, exploring the legendary Hearst Castle. With its spectacular and picturesque views, Highway 1 is something everyone should see for themselves.

The picture with the car is so beautiful!

you pictures are amazing! love!
Some of those shots belong in NG…no lies. LOVE!
This makes me so excited because I’m doing a roadtrip this summer from San Diego up to San Francisco! My friend and I are definitely gonna have to make a few stops! Beautiful!
umm, so i just got back from doing the same thing! i flew into sd and drove up to sf. did you go before the 40 ft. landslide by carmel??!! i stayed in cambria and then had to detour over to the 101 and go back to pebble beach. i was so bummed! they said it might be a few months until it’s done being repaired 🙁 anyhoo, it was a damn good trip in our little rental. i will be posting the rest of my pics as soon as blogger is back up and running 😉
HWY 1 is always such a great roadtrip — always one of my favorites! The 395 all the way down to Death Valley (I think it’s the 190?) is super gorgeous and super underrated. If you haven’t been, you should totally go.
I really enjoyed these pictures! It was like being there! I’m a fan of your blog since I spotted a Mademoiselle chair some posts ago! Have a lovely weekend! XoXo
making me a bit homesick for my years in santa barbara. We tookhighway 1 all the way to Oregon – once. TOok more than 30 hours, and my back went out, but sleeping on a tiny peninsula to the constant barking of seals, and the early morning drive up by Goat Rock and the Russian River Valley were TOTALLY worth it. North Marin at sunrise is, officially, my favorite stretch of road, ever. And there is NOTHING like the smell of the sequoias. Best, sweetest evergreen scent ever. hands down.
Oh, that seal (or whatever it is) looks scary!
Gorgeous pictures! I’m from the Central Coast and Cambria is one of my favorite places in the world.
aw, I love your photos! I live in and was raised in Santa Cruz, and went to school in Santa Barbara, AND I love love Hearst Castle and neeeed to go back!
some beautiful scenery! love that seal! 🙂
traveling with a bulldog too? that can be handful!
i wanna do the trek from sf to death valley soon.
Hearst Castle is insane! Which tour did you take? I did the garden tour & got in trouble for touching a flower. OOps! haha
So I finally got some posts up of my trip up a few weeks ago as well. We flew into SD from NYC and drove up to Cambria as well 🙂 Then we went on to Pebble Beach and SF. More on that soon!
