Wishbone Chairs

In 1944, inspired by Chinese chairs from the Ming Dynasty, Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner designed the Wishbone Chair, his most successful design of all time. To this day, the Carl Hansen & Son factory continues to produce the chair with it’s iconic Y shaped wooden back and frame and hand woven paper cord seating. Did you know it takes 400 feet of paper cord to construct the seat, which is meant to last at least 50 years of wear? I’m crushing hard on these timeless chairs – especially the ones with the natural wood frames.

Where did you find th 7th photo from the top? Because those aren’t wishbone chairs, but they’re gorgeous nonetheless!

Unfortunately they aren’t very comfortable. I had a massive crush too – until I tried them out…

The chairs look wonderful, I especially like the black ones. But I fear that they aren’t very comfortable…

@Michelle – I have the black wishbone chairs and I replaced my very comfortable leather seat and ratan back pottery barn dining chairs with these so I felt the difference. The back is not comfortable when you lean back. So not very comfortable but not too uncomfortable either. But I love the look and the small profile which makes my area look more spacious.

  11. I am looking for the three matching mirrors in photo # 11. Can you tell me where I could order them please. Been searching forever and there are a lot out there in that style but most are not quality pieces and have distortion, etc.
    Thank you,
    Deb
