Frances Loom

I have my mother in law to thank for my infatuation with rugs. I always had a great appreciation for her extensive collection and even benefitted from her loaners when my husband and I moved into our first apartment together. But it wasn’t until we traveled to Turkey, where we splurged our first hand knotted carpet and hauled home an additional 5 kilims, that my carpet love affair began. But finding the right rug can be an intimidating and arduous process. Enter Kelly Vittengl of Francis Loom. The self proclaimed rug slinger curates an exquisite collection of antique Persian and Turkish rugs at sensible prices. I’ve been “needing” a runner for my closet and am just so happy I stumbled across her site. Now, I’m just waiting for the right one . . .

  1. Turkish Kilim rugs are so gorgeous! But yeah, it’s hard to find one at a decent/price quality because it seems like everyone is catching on with the trend 🙁

I was born and grew up in Istanbul and it is amazing how I became a huge fan of Turkish rugs after I moved to California. Now every time I go back home I bring here one of my favourite rugs from my family’s collection.

I had never been into rugs that much either until my mom started purchasing them for the new wood floors in our family home. Now I seem to look at them all the time and love the patterns and designs available. Who knew a rug could make such a difference?
