Airstream Dreams

I want an Airstream. Actually, scratch that. I want Tin Can Homestead's beautifully restored 1971 Airstream trailer. It's so, so good. After spending months traveling cross country, in an old Volkswagen van, Natasha Lawyer and Brett Bashaw realized that tiny home living was for them. The ambitious duo decided to purchase a leaky and defunct 1971 Airstream Sovereign, for under $5,000, and transform it into 200 square feet of livable space. The trailer was essentially a shell to start - hence the name of their beloved project: Tin Can Homestead. After extensive work on the subfloor, breaks, waterproofing, plumbing, and electricity, they were able to focus on building out custom cabinetry and designing smart storage solutions. I just love the way it turned out, especially the incorporation of all the plants and light wood. It's bright and dreamy. And challenges us to question whether or not we could like this simply. Unfortunately, the trailer was recently put up for sale and purchased (darn!), as Natasha and Brett decided to move on to a new project: a little 166 square foot cabin on 11 acres of land in Vermont. As you can probably guess, it's just as perfect.
