Luminous de Lezo

It’s pretty impressive to see how a set of old office spaces have been restored and transformed into interior designer Soledad Suárez de Lezo‘s elegant Madrid home. I’m in love with the industrial steel windows, deco floor tiles, intricate moulding, and vibrant accoutrements. It’s fabulously eclectic (check out the set of rhinoceros feet on the coffee table) and wonderfully luminous!

I like the space and things like the doors, windows and ceilings.. but there is just too much STUFF in most of those rooms. It reminds me of that saying where you should look in the mirror before you leave and take off “one thing” .. in this case, I would take off several things..from most of the rooms. They are so busy the home wouldn’t be at all calming or relaxing.. which your home should be.

Please tell me those aren’t actual rhinoceros feet.

Most rhino species are critically endangered or threatened. One species of rhino was declared extinct as recently as 2011. Rhinos are under enormous threat from poachers who kill them for their horns and apparently their feet.

A big THANK YOU to Honestly WTF for such kind words. I am thrilled to see my work featured in one of my favourite posts. And thank you everyone for your lovely comments- I’m glad you liked it!
Julent, they’re not rhino’s feet but hippos. These are not anywhere near extintion and they come from a safari with all due permits and controls. Having said this, I totally respect anyone’s views on hunting as I’m aware it is a controversial subject, but I wanted to state that these hippos come from a legally controlled hunt.
    Enjoy your day!!

It is lovely, but I’m totally turned off by all the dead animal stuff, starting with the rhino feet, but also the zebra skin rugs, the fur throws, the antelope skulls, etc. It’s in nearly every shot. How macabre and sickening.

What an amazing home. For me, it was room after room of beautifully collected perfection . The well considered contrasts from one space to the next was brave and worked on every level. I would love to know what the wall covering in the kitchen is. Lovely lovely lovely!
