Paintbrush Portraits is an ongoing project by Rebecca Szeto. The San Francisco based artist has been whittling down old, discarded paintbrushes and sculpting the handles into figures since 1999. Inspired by women of the Renaissance period and Diego Velázquez’s Las Menina, Rebecca is transforming trash into treasures.
