Much Loved

For a newly released book project, photographer Mark Nixon has captured intimate portraits of cherished stuffed animals that have been ripped apart and bruised after years of play and snuggles. Although seemingly sad at first, you can’t help but think that the more tattered the plush possession, the more loved it was. It’s not easy being a teddy bear!

  6. Ha, this reminds me of hubby´s huge teddybear he got when he´s eight years old. He still got it and he says he´ll give it as a gift to our future child.

    Love, love your blog!

  7. Wow I just love this! I have a stuffed elephant that could have made the collection quite easily, I still love it and am pretty certain that we are going to make it through life together.

  8. What a cute project. Some of them are a little creepy, but you’re right it just means they were more loved.

This makes me smile. I wish I could have submitted my stuffed animal! He was a big fluffy white polar bear, but now looks like a rat. His name is “B” (because I couldn’t say bear) and he is so delicate now that he resides on a shelf; his stuffing would fall out otherwise.

  13. Oh, how sweet! My teenage son has a much loved bear called “purple bear” that he still has sitting on a bookshelf with a split up the back and a missing eye.

This is so sweet, and represents so much love. I don’t have my childhood stuffed animals anymore, but I did hold onto a tattered old blanket. My boyfriend always asks why I’ve kept the raggedy, falling apart old thing, but whenever I see the tears and holes, it reminds me of all those nights I slept with it as a kid and dragged it around with me everywhere.

Aww, good memories! And great photos.
