Mixing traditional Americana with modern nostalgia, designer Kelsy Carleen Parkhouse has our hearts aflutter with her impressive debut collection. The Pratt graduate and recent recipient of the inaugural Liz Claiborne Award found inspiration in the stratification and color palette of the Grand Canyon, as well as the age-old art of quilting. We’re simply smitten with the colorblocked dresses held together with buttons, hand quilted separates and gauzy skirts. And if you have a few minutes, be sure to check out the video below which highlights the painstakingly beautiful details of her pieces.

Love the patchwork quilt-like skirt.
The model reminds me a bit of Shandi from America’s next top Model season 2…

I love all the color blocking. It’s so modern, simplistic and still is cool and chill.

Of all the gorgeous prints, I think my favorite has to be the crisp white shirt with the khaki pants, though the triangle patchwork-like coat is also quite cute too!
Really interesting concept.
So impressive!

This whole collection is amazing but I’d definitely stick to the minis over the midi/maxis.
Is it me or does this model have the expression of one who just missed the train and hasn’t processed it yet? The collection is great but I can’t stop looking at the model and thinking that putting the clothes on a mannequin would have been just as effective.
Impressive collection! And that coat is gorgeous. I’m with Mel, though. That is the saddest model I’ve ever seen.
Pretty looks!
