Believe it or not, what look like photographs of microscopic moss or trees laid against a snowy landscape are actually aerial shots of dried up, spiny rivers in Baja California, Mexico. The images, taken by photographer Adriana Franco for National Geographic, capture nature’s most wondrous beauty.

wow they look like paintings…or 3D work. I wouldn’t have thought they were aerial photos.
I love that you compared these to smaller things like moss/trees: great examples of how we see very similar patterns in nature at very different scales (hint: google “fractals”)!
Amazing! Do you know if prints of these images can be purchased? Thanks!
what a dreamy sort of mind “puzzle” – and beautiful too!

Amazing work challenging perception…interesting how getting close & far away from something results in coming to the same point!

Beautiful?!?! Are you people stupid? Sorry, but they’re DRIED up rivers. Where is the beauty in that? You people just look at pictures and think ‘ahhh lovely’ but don’t realize what a serious environmental issue this is.
