Artist Juliana Santacruz Herrera has taken to the streets of Paris to repair unsightly potholes and cracks with braids and braids of colorful yarn. Reminds me of what artist Jan Vormann did with Legos. Love!

This is so cool! I’m going to be in Paris next week, so I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for this!
Stunning. Love works of art that you just come across on the street. Makes art accessible to the general public. Your posts always make me miss my art history classes so much! They get me thinking so thanks for that!

So much better than graffiti, more creative these days too! Did you ever hear of the rogue knitter in Jersey? Check it out!

This is awesome! I love finding random art like this.
Love this. Nothing like gratuitous beautification of the streets. So happy-making!

If all the potholes in LA looked like this, I think I could actually start to like potholes.
Unbelievably beautiful.. can they please seal it – so it stays like that forever.. we could really use some of those in NYC!

I love stuff like this 🙂 Thanks for sharing it, More artists need to take to the streets in creative ways like this, everyone would be so much happier. Maybe I’ll dedicate my summer to making my city more colourful ! xo
Love it…. street art is the best.. stuff that’s just out there and you just walk by and it and enjoy it without having be in a gallery or some space. great post… they should go to LA or Beijing to do this 🙂

Ooooh what a lovely idea!
Reminds me of an article my sister sent me about an artist in London who decorates snail’s shells and lets them carry on crawling the streets as ‘street art’!
Great idea! Love it! You may like our blog too, so check it out if you want! Best
wishes!

love this! reminds me of yarn bombing.. so fun and beautiful!
who sees a hole in the street and says to themselves… i think ill fill that wiht yarn lol soo cool
I’m really impressed. I want to know the time of day that they put the braids in the pot holes. What happened to the traffic. My luck, I’d try that and get run over by a vehicle.
Does the yarn get dislodged (as even pavement did, to cause the pothole!) and wrap around axles/wheels of passing cars? This looks nice, but I would NOT at all like to be pulling it out from an axle/wheel/other moving parts where it got caught & perhaps caused something to seize up/maybe cause an accident.
