oh yes i would love a nest rest! the resort where we stayed on our honeymoon had something similar to those but they were resting on the ground. they were really awesome to relax in and sip a cold beverage 😀

That one hanging over the water looks nice but I ask you, how is someone supposed to get into it? Even if it turned to face the shore you couldn’t step in from that far out. The model must have walked out in the cold water and changed pants once in his nest!
Shelley, getting in would be easy, just somehow pull the nest in towards land to climb in. However a fairly complex pulley system would be needed to accomplish getting back to dry land.
Above water is nice, it provides natural cooling. However, what would happen in floods? I love it, but I can see so many things going wrong (tree branches breaking, critters using it as a home, etc)

I have a papasan chair hanging from a low tree branch in my back yard, it has a similar effect. Just not as much of a cocoon. But still very relaxing and comfy. (if you try this, make sure to use parachute cable. not regular rope.)
I need and want a couple of these for me and my children….. This is an investment that can wait until I get my 3 acres with my mansion in Florida….. 2 or 3 years down the road…. its my dream and my fantasy and no one can hinder it!…. I remember seeing a creation of this sort a few years back in an nature magazine….

Okay to answer the question of how dude got in the nest above the water… a boat. Clearly whomever took the pic moved said boat before snapping the shot. But imagine rowing your little kayak up to your nest rest and climbing in to read a book. 🙂

This is called a Nestrest. It is designed by Daniel Pouzet and Fred Frety. (Website: http://www.dedon.de/en/) It is actually $11,000. I’m sure that when a website does not have pricing it’s products are usually made for people who don’t ask for prices when they shop .. aka the financially elite.
How amazing would that be though.. if beautiful design like that could be readily available for everyone to share…?

$11k w/o cushions ?… $3k more for the cushions ?…. It occured to me that (aside from the specific material) manufacturing the concept myself wouldn’t be so hard. Just have to figure out what material considering weight/weight capacity issues. Someone could make a FORTUNE mass producing similar concepts at realistic prices.

A couple thousand dollars? No. I emailed the store they had in New York and they told me that is clocked in at $14,000. Yeah… dream.. ruined
