Doing Goods

Self proclaimed world travelers and treasure hunters Jan Swinkers and Aanyoung Yeh founded Doing Goods, a homeware label, after discovering and connecting deeply with a family run business in India. On a mission to make good on the promise of working respectfully in and with the communities they collaborate with, the design duo made plans to build a workshop with that family, from the ground up. Today, the Doing Goods workshop is thriving within its community, with fair wages, sufficient breaks and paid time off for the artisans. The Dutch based company continues to design and sell a variety of unique and quirky homewares, like inlaid drawer knobs, brass candle holders, kitchenware and textiles, inspired by the traditional techniques and artisanal crafts of India. My favorite, above all, is the collection of animal rugs - a signature of the brand. Made from 100% wool and each tufted by hand, the Tapis Amis collection is a quirky range of nearly every four-legged creature of the animal kingdom. I'll take them all!

I wish they did more different animal side view versions like the original tiger rug. I prefer those to the flat lay of the animals. It looks like we hunted them. (even though I know it is not the case!)

How much do they pay the workers etc.?
