It all started with a single vintage 1970s cardigan, found at a flea market in Los Angeles by siblings Nicolò and Carlotta Oddi. The beloved piece followed them on a memorable trip to Hawaii and consequently, Alanui was born. The foundation of the Italian label became a reinvented, luxurious version of the iconic silhouette: a buttonless unisex oversized jacquard cashmere cardigan, edged with a dense fringe and closed with a two-tone belt. This season, the Italian design duo is bringing their collection back, full circle, to where it all started in Hawaii. After all, Alunui means "large path" in Hawaiian. Tropical landscapes, flowers and retro Hawaiian motifs adorn their signature sweaters, as well as tees, denim and knits. Each cardigan can take nearly 11 hours to make using over 980 grams of the finest cashmere. As much admiration as I have for the level of craftsmanship, this makes those gorgeous cardigans completely out of my price range. Nevertheless, I still love the label and draw so much inspiration from it. And the crocheted necklaces, fringed and embroidered denim jackets, and embellished Superga sneakers?! So good and so DIYable . . .
Ever since I saw Carlotta wearing one of her cardigans I’ve been drooling over them… they’re just perfect… for every season!! Absolutely loving this spring collection.
