Remember artist Lucy Sparrow and her adorable London Corner Shop, which was filled with 4,000+ handmade felt replicas of classic British candy bars, cigarettes, magazines, canned foods and beer? Well, she's at it again - this time out west to The Standard LA, right off the heels of her NYC bodega pop up last summer, 8 ‘Till Late. The Sparrow Mart is a chain supermarket straight out of the 80s, stocked with plenty of Spam, produce, pork chops, videotape rentals, Maruchan ramen and get this - 31,000 other plush products. 31,000! It took her and 5 assistants exactly a year to finish hand sewing each piece and Lucy was responsible for hand painting everything. I can't help but feel overcome with joy and childlike wonderment seeing these photos from her exhibition and I'm not even there, in person, to experience it. Oh, and did I mention everything is for sale? LA, grab a basket and get your grocery on!
Sparrow Mart open until August 31st or until everything sells out
INCREDIBLE!
This looks so incredible, I would love to see this in person! That must have been so much work!
Very nice, thank you the post.
Ridiculously cool! Thanks for sharing such talent!
