Fleur Woods

Having spent years playing around with mixed media, textiles and embroidery, New Zealand artist Fleur Woods has developed her signature work by creating intricate stitched paintings, inspired by flora and nature. Her unique process begins with abstract dyeing and painting swags of linen. Once the fabric dries, botanical outlines and details are painted on with gouache and ink. Then, the work really comes to life with intricate and dense embroidery, giving each piece beautiful texture and an enchanting, three-dimensional quality. Most of the larger pieces are stretched and framed in natural Australian Oak, the final touch to these one of kind masterpieces.
