One of the two pairs of shoes I practically lived in, before, throughout and after my pregnancy, was FRĒDA SALVADOR‘s black, patent leather d’Orsay loafers. The other pair was an identical pair but in brown. Needless to say, I need more in just about every color. That, my friends, is the sign of a great shoe. And it is no surprise that designers Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Papay have continued to outdo themselves with yet another covetable collection. This season, it’s all about mules sandals, d’Orsay loafers and oxfords, and multi-strapped sandals – all in metallic, textured, and snake printed leather. My new favorites? The oh so chic Wit and luxuriously comfortable Shine. Obsessed in an understatement.
Tops Knots + Braids
How charming are these painted portraits of top knots and braids by artist Elizabeth Mayville? These effortless and casual updos, seen on hair of all types and colors, remind me of what I love most about summer . . . ease.
Clean & Crisp
Nick Frank
It’s no wonder Munich based photographer Nick Frank favors shooting urban architecture. He does it so well. His perspective on the facade of Mira, a local shopping center, has enhanced the colors and geometric structure so beautifully and brilliantly.
DIY Braided Cuff
The weather is getting warmer and the sleeves are getting shorter. Exposed wrists are in desperate need of jewelry – some new, some old and some handmade. This season, I’m all about making these braided brass cuffs, inspired by Aurélie Bidermann’s Copacabana bracelet. The most complicated step to this tutorial is drilling holes through the cuff but if you’ve got a steady hand and a tiny drill bit, you’ll be churning these out before you know it.
You’ll need:
- 1/2″ blank brass cuff
- 6 skeins of embroidery thread
- 1 skein of metallic gold embroidery thread
- an embroidery needle
- a rotary drill
- a drill bit
