Ulyana Sergeenko Spring Couture 2013

Nostalgia came knocking on our door yesterday in the form ofย Ulyana Sergeenko‘s second couture collection. Envision a Russian Scarlett O’Hara walking out of some of our favorite childhood stories like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Wizard of Ozย – figuratively and literally (models walked out of a life sized fairy tale book) – and donning dramatically cinched waists, exposed damsel in distress shoulders, hand embroidered animal details, floor sweeping dresses, oversized straw hats, and apron topped burlap skirts. Collection after collection, Ulyana has us wishing we were living in the fantasy she’s so brilliantly imagined.

I love the focus on unique silhouettes here. Such a great emphasis on the hips but still flattering. Love it.
