Film On The Rocks

Last month, Tilda Swinton and director Apichatpong Weerasethakul curated one of the newest, and possibly the coolest, film festivals in Yao Noi, Thailand. Four days full of film screenings and workshops brought artists, actors, designers, and journalists together at Film on the Rocks. Waris Ahluwalia of House of Waris held a Batik dyeing workshop. Moviegoers were delivered by boat to a floating movie theater, made of recycled materials, to watch the original Peter Pan from 1924. I mean, honestly . . . WTF.

  1. Without even reading a word of text I knew by the pictures this could only be one magical place in the world: THAILAND!
My dad took us there when I was 8 years old, and I’ll never forget it, one of the best trips of my life and I treasure those pictures and memories so much. I think most people’s perception of Thailand is skewed by stories of child prostitution, but there is SO MUCH MORE to that amazing place!

Stunning photos! A floating movie theatre? For me it almost floats on the ostentatious, but what a groovy idea. I would love to lounge on a floating platform and check out a double feature. Was it just a couple film screenings? What one struck you the most?

    I am jealous!
