One of my biggest regrets after our home renovation is the removal of the crown and window molding. It wasn't anything particularly unique or ornate - however, the molding was original to the craftsman era home and in retrospect, that should have been reason enough to keep it. My irrational logic (I blame this call on being 8 months pregnant with Quincy, btw) had me believing the molding would stunt the rooms, making the ceilings seem shorter than they actually were. False. I actually like the substantial feel that molding provides - the more ornate, the better, in my opinion - and now, I just find myself pained with remorse whenever I see a home as beautiful as this Scandinavian flat. So my advice to you? Keep as many of the old, original details as you can . . . it could only add charm.
