Marni recently debuted a collection of 100 chairs and tables at one of Milan’s largest furniture fairs, Salone del Mobile. Handmade in San Gil, Colombia by former prison inmates, the chairs are constructed from salvaged metal frames with multi-colored PVC threads woven around the seatbacks and armrests. Not only is Marni commited to charitable initiatives while providing jobs for former inmates, all proceeds will be donated to the ICAM institute which enables children of imprisoned mothers to spend their first years of life in a safe family environment.
(chairs sold exclusively at the Marni Boutique at Via della Spiga 50, Milan)
She needs to be making Marni chairs for H&M….or Sears or something, so the prices are just right. 😉

Hi, I am from Colombia. I am super honored to have seen this article about my country here, but I have a question, why do you people insist on writing Columbia with a U?
The name is COLOMBIA, has two o’s in it. No u’s.
I’d appreciate the effort of wringing a PROPER NAME with the proper spelling.
Or is Chile, spelled CHILI? Is Brazil spelled BRESIL?
wow and such a great cause. amazing!
Great designs!
Hello,
Please it is San Gil, Colombia… and Milan is Milano, ok !
The misspelling of the country Colombia is a common English error due to the fact that the Columbia spelling is so common, referring to such entities as the District of Columbia, British Columbia, Columbia University, etc… Also of note is that both words can trace their origins to Christopher Columbus whose last name is spelled differently in different languages.
that´s so great! i´m decorating my apartment right now and always looking for inspirations!

I remember such chairs from my childhood in the sixties: in hot weather not comfortable indeed, and the plastic causes static electricity 🙂 But they are very nice and colourfull, so I do like them.

Marni may be a better looking chair but Herman Miller is definitely more suitable for the long days at the office.
