Since taking the creative reins at Gucci, Alessandro Michele has collaborated with numerous creatives like Coco Captain, Angela Hicks and Petra Collins. While most luxury brands team up with celebrated and well known artists, Alessandro goes for the under the radar talent that he occasionally discovers on Instagram. Amazing. This season, he’s tapped British painter Helen Downie, also known as @UnskilledWorker, to create a 40 piece capsule collection that include dresses, bomber jackets, GG Marmont shoulder bags, and Princetown mules – all printed with Downie’s vibrant illustrations. Alessandro has been a fan of hers since 2015 (one of her original paintings hangs above his desk at Gucci) and needless to say, the feeling is mutual. Bravo, Alessandro, for your love of art.
