Inspiration for Mara Hoffman‘s latest resort collection stems from a recent trip to Guatemala. The colors, textiles, and culture of Guatemala come to life in El Circo Mágico, a collection of wildly psychedelic and rainbow colored swimwear. And it seems she found similar magic right in her own state of New York at this 16-acre art home in the backwoods of Cottekil – the perfect backdrop to her rainbow.
Bellerby & Co: Globemakers
A failed attempt at finding a well crafted globe, a gift for his father, was the inspiration behind Peter Bellerby‘s year and a half long journey to master the art of making artisanal globes – a craft that is so extremely difficult, it’s no wonder there is only one other person in the world that shares in this complex skill. Each component of the globe is constructed by hand – from casting the spheres to hand painting the illustrations. I’ve wanted a beautiful globe for so long and now it just seems as if anything, other than Bellerby & Co‘s globes, would simply pale in comparison.
The Hair Tuck
I never thought my hair could actually feel penetratingly frigid until I survived a few winters living in New York City. So when we suggest tucking your hair so chicly – and sensibly – into your sweaters, scarves and coats this season, we’re really actually doing you a solid.
Good Objects
Uruguayan artist Valeria Rienzi uses watercolors as a medium to illustrate her most prized closet staples as well as fashion’s most coveted items. The details are so spot on and their bit of whimsy makes me wanna gaze at these images all day long. Thankfully, her Instagram feed is full of these delightful illustrations and you can purchase her work on the newly launched art gallery Buddy Editions.
