Say hello to my latest crush, La Double J. The Italian label is the brainchild of American journalist and vintage enthusiast J.J. Martin. Relocating to Milan from New York uncovered an expansive world of true vintage, unseen and unknown by most, and so the idea of making new clothes, inspired by vintage fabrics, was born. J.J. collaborated with Mantero, a 150-year-old textile manufacturer in Lake Como that worked with Pucci, Dior and Chanel, to create a collection of 1970s inspired dresses, skirts and blouses from reissued archival fabrics. The prints are explosive and energetic but its the silhouettes that are most whimsical and alluring. My favorites are the full, floor length skirts, the ruffled cap sleeve mini dresses and of course, the off the shoulder maxis. But wait, there’s more. J.J. has recently launched a line of furniture, dinnerware and children’s clothing . . . you know, so you can truly live that Double J life!
