In Sanskrit, the word “kantha” means rags. For centuries, Bengali women have taken their discarded saris and sewn them together with a simple running stitch, to create blankets. Hand & Cloth is a social enterprising ministry in Bangladesh that provides living wage, school scholarships, and a loving community to young at-risk women. Each woman is paid per-piece to stitch kanthas from recycled sari material. These beautiful quilts make the perfect gift for that someone special.
